22nd April 2024 - Work, Spaghetti, and Catching Up

 Hello everyone,

There was so much to do to get the house sorted this morning I ended up being 30 minutes late for work. I got there just in time for the school assembly, something which I hate to miss as a bit of faith sets you up for a good day.

Why was I late? The dishwasher hadn’t been loaded last night. I had to scrub all the dried stuff this morning, and then put it all in the dishwasher. It took a good half an hour, half an hour I didn’t have but I couldn’t leave dirty plates and kitchen equipment laying around.

After this I decided that, now I am back on a positive routine, part of this can be a cleaning routine. I have a blackboard hanging in the kitchen which I usually write on what I will be making for tea when I get back from work (Spaghetti Bolognese and Garlic Bread tonight). I decided to draw a line half way down it - the top part for food, the bottom part for saying which room will be cleaned today. Monday - the living room.

As I was running late I used the car to get to work. Just in time for assembly! Work was full of the usual admin work I have to do after a weekend - emails and queries that require my attention. I had a document to read that was emailed to me from a colleague about the Teaching Schools Hub reaccreditation for the next 4 years. Basically this document explained what my job was going to be, so it was fairly important I read it.

It read well, and I knew exactly what was expected from me. Lots of KPI’s, targets to meet, and reports to submit. All will need spreadsheets and computer systems to ensure it is done properly, and we all know I pride myself on my rather excellent computer systems!

All in all it was a very good day. Yes, lots of reading troubleshooting, but nothing that I wasn’t used to. I finished work fulfilled, knowing it had been a positive start to the week.

Back at home I was determined to keep to my routine. I got home just after 5, maybe 5.15pm, and set about making Spaghetti Bolognese for 6 people. It was gorgeous!

I now find myself sat on the couch, watching snooker, typing up the last few days of this very blog, catching up to make sure my life adventure becomes part of my routine. Today is the first day of the rest of my life, and I am happy to say it has been a good start.
