21st August 2024 - Helping Mum Move

 Hello everyone,

I’ve committed to a proper morning routine to make sure I don’t fall back into any bad habits, as mentioned yesterday. I woke up just after 7am, got the house sorted out, got myself sorted out and dressed, and did some meditation.

With no football match to referee today it was the perfect time to sort through the DVD, games, and books I had brought back from my mums a few days earlier. I didn’t need any of them - DVD’s are no longer needed as everything can be streamed, I had read all of the books, and I had played all of the games. The only games I wanted to keep were my beloved Final Fantasy games. I could never part with them!

I didn’t have the motivation to list everything on eBay to sell individually. I wanted to get rid of all of it pretty quickly. The value of everything was irrelevant, so I decided to use the Music Magpie app to get rid of most of it all in one go. Anything they didn’t want I will simply donate to some charity shops around the town.

14 books and DVDs have been valued at just over £8. I took great pleasure in boxing them up and storing them in my airing cupboard, waiting to be sent off the next time I pass the post depot. Within a few days my home will be, once again, free of unnecessary stuff. The internet is my saviour in all of this, within a few short moments I can watch anything, play anything, or read anything. Never again will I need DVDs….but I might occasionally keep games and books. These, in rare circumstances, can hold some sentimental value to me, such as my Final Fantasy games.

In the afternoon myself and Fearne went back to my mums to help her move some stuff to her new bungalow. She is moving on Tuesday, so I thought we could be useful and help her move some belongs using my car. Fearne was a big help too, she help her sort out all the boxes while I did a few journeys back from the current house to the new house, bring boxes with me. As I went forwards and backwards, mum and Fearne started putting things away in the new home.

The removal people are coming on Tuesday to move her furniture and bigger items. And just like that 25 years of memories will be over, ready to start a new chapter in her life in a lovely bungalow.

As a reward for helping out she made us a lovely chicken dinner (back at the old house).  Fearne loved it! We watched the Man Utd v Coventry FA Cup semi final too. What a bizarre game that was!

I had one final set of boxes for myself I needed to take home - my collection of Final Fantasy models! I didn’t realise I had so many of them, 3 boxes full. As a younger person I collected them, but now, as a fully functioning adult with only a finite amount of space in my home, I can honestly say I am over them. As long as I have the Final Fantasy games, which are where the true memories lay of course, the models aren’t necessary.

I will go through them all one at a time, thank them for the pleasure they brought me as a child, and use eBay to move them on to people who can enjoy them as much as I did.

In the evening Fearne and I returned home, had a second tea as Juli had made a Sunday roast too, before getting ourselves sorted out for work and school tomorrow. The day ended with Fearne falling asleep on the couch yet again as I watched Match of the Day 2 for the football highlights.
