20th April 2024 - Beating my Addiction with a Routine

 Hello everyone,

I had to stop myself from restarting a computer system I knew didn’t work this morning. A couple of months ago I had built a Betfair Exchange system that placed bets on Greyhound Racing using the Oscar’s Grind gambling system. Everytime the favourite dog lost, I increased the size of the bet by one until the dog won and I was back in profit.

I ran it for a couple of days, and within a couple of days I had run out of my bank balance, which was only £40. I didn’t want to use, or waste, any more money because I only built the system to prove a theory - a theory that such gambling systems do not work.

I had the urge to want to restart it again, even though I knew it was nonsense. I was bored, couldn’t think of anything positive to do at that moment, and so my mind returned to this disastrous plan.

Drastic action was needed on my part to beat the urge to waste my time in front of a laptop. I kept myself busy by washing clothes, tidying up, and meditating. After an hour I had got rid of those addictive thoughts, and was back into a positive routine of wanting to be as productive as possible each day.

Gambling is a sure fire way of wasting time, money and brain power. No matter what system you use it never gives you an edge over anything, and in the end the gambling companies always win. They either take all your money, or your soul, and you end up being a shell of what you are. Heed my words of advice folks - don’t waste your life gambling. I have enough evidence from my betting systems to know it doesn’t pay off. Keep yourself busy and do something useful in your life.

After I had sorted my own head out it was time to get ready to referee a football match. On this after I had the pleasure of refereeing Seaton Carew against Bishop Auckland Reserves. The game was played at Seaton, a mere 15 minute cycle ride away, so I took the opportunity to cycle there.

The game itself was uneventful, my first 0-0 of the season, but it was a perfect opportunity to make sure my concentration and fitness were still up to scratch as we made our way to the business end of the season. I am delighted to report I focused for the entire game, and never once felt tired.

Upon returning home I had the house to myself. Fearne and Juli were at a dance competition, and then went to visit a friend in the evening, and didn’t get back until late. I spent the evening watching the FA Cup semi final between Man City and Chelsea, whilst eating a rather lovely Macaroni Cheese tea I had made, before watching the final three episodes of Mr Robot S1. What a series! I can’t wait to start watching Season 2.
