“I honour the quiet victories in my life. They are the foundation of something lasting and real.”
As the Easter break approached, today had a familiar finality to it — the kind that settles softly over you like the last bell at the end of term. It’s not quite a celebration, not quite a sigh of relief, but rather a slow exhale that carries with it the weight of accomplishment.
Work today kept me there later than usual — until 5:30 PM — as I made sure every last piece of equipment was shut down, all the wires and tech safely stored, and everything tidy and organised for the Easter holiday. The job may have seemed like a simple task on the surface, but there's something therapeutic about wrapping up a season, knowing you've left it in good shape for the one to come.
👔 A Different Kind of Journey Home
Rather than changing into my usual cycling clothes and pedalling off into the afternoon air, I drove home in my shirt and tie. Something about that drive felt symbolic. It wasn’t rushed. It wasn’t noisy. It gave me the opportunity to just… be. There’s a different kind of transition that happens when you remain in your work clothes — it feels like the day lingers a little longer, giving you time to process it more gently.
Once home, I could finally shrug off the “work mode” and fall back into something much more important — presence.
🛋️ A Quiet Evening, Filled With What Matters Most
Tonight wasn’t busy. It wasn’t filled with errands or long checklists. It was exactly what I needed it to be: quiet, simple, connected.
We all relaxed together, soaking in the kind of family energy that doesn’t need loud conversations or activities to feel whole. It's amazing how grounding it can be to just be in the same space as the people you love, everyone doing their own thing, yet sharing that atmosphere of peace.
And I, of course, turned to my story again.
Writing lately has felt less like a task and more like a calling. It’s as though each day something new in me unlocks. The plot is developing in ways that surprise even me. When you’re writing something you care about deeply, the characters stop being fictional. They become people you’re responsible for. You want to honour their truth.
Even with the story drawing me in, part of my evening focus remained on something just as meaningful — helping make sure bedtime routines were in place.
💤 Steady Progress and Small Wins
Fearne has been doing incredibly well lately — especially with her bedtime routine. I did my best to help her settle by 9:00 PM, and she was asleep by 9:30 PM. It’s such a small window of time in the grand scheme of the day, but one that carries so much weight in terms of growth, security, and care.
Seeing her develop these healthy habits fills me with quiet pride. She’s growing, learning, and doing her best — and that inspires me every single day. She’s proof that consistency and compassion can work together beautifully. I’m so proud of her.
🌿 Grateful Reflection
As I close this day, I’m filled with gratitude for simple moments: the satisfaction of leaving work in good order, the luxury of a calm drive home, the joy of writing, and the deep pride in watching my daughter thrive.
None of these things make headlines. But they do make happiness.
This isn’t a story of doing something grand or flashy. This is a story about showing up — for your responsibilities, for your dreams, and most importantly, for your people.
And sometimes, that’s more than enough.
