Saturday 12th April 2025 - The Final Chapter: A Story Completed, and a Day With Fearne

“I celebrate my creativity, honour my accomplishments, and cherish the quiet moments that follow.”

There’s a unique kind of satisfaction that comes when a long-held creative goal finally reaches its destination — a quiet exhale, a warm moment of reflection, and a private “I did it” whispered to yourself. Today was one of those days.

✍️ A Morning of Creative Completion

With Fearne and Juli out early in the morning for dance, the house was still, the light was soft, and everything aligned perfectly for one purpose — finishing my story.

I had been edging toward this moment all week. The characters, the plotlines, the emotional threads — all of it was converging into something final. And today, I crossed the finish line.

It wasn’t quick. It took hours. Writing the final section demanded more of me than I expected. There were emotional layers I hadn’t anticipated. Letting go of characters I’ve carried for so long was harder than I thought it would be. But I stayed in the moment, typed the last sentence, and let myself sit there quietly, soaking it in.

It’s done. The story is complete.
What started as a spark — just a few scattered notes and scenes — has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of.

👨‍👧 Dad Duties Take the Stage

Just before lunchtime, Juli and Fearne returned from dancing, and it was time for me to take the reins as “Dad on duty.” Juli was off to Whitby with Henry for a rugby match, so it was just me and Fearne for the rest of the day.

These are the kind of handovers that make family life feel like a well-oiled (if sometimes chaotic) relay race — you pass the baton with a quick breath and step into your next role. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Fearne was happy to spend the afternoon playing out with her friends. I kept a watchful eye from nearby, making sure she was safe while also soaking in the comfort of the weekend.

📚 A Quiet Afternoon of Reflection

Between checking in on Fearne and tidying bits here and there, I managed to get some reading done — just a few chapters, but enough to feel nourished by someone else’s words after spending so long crafting my own.

I also kept one eye on the football scores as they came in. It was one of those Saturdays where everything felt calm and content — no rush, no pressure, just peaceful observation.

🎉 Pride in the Progress

If I had to describe today in one word, it would be fulfilling.
I am so proud — not just for finishing a piece of writing I’ve poured my heart into, but for how naturally the rest of the day unfolded. There’s something beautiful in being able to move from a place of high creative energy to quiet parental presence.

It’s easy to underestimate what it takes to switch gears — from creative thinker to caregiver — but today reminded me that the two are not in conflict. In fact, they nurture each other.

Fearne’s joy, her imaginative play, her excitement about the world — it all feeds back into my own creativity.

🌿 Grateful Reflection

Today was a celebration of both accomplishment and simplicity. I finished something deeply important to me, and then spent the day doing something equally meaningful: being present with my daughter.

Life doesn’t always give us big dramatic moments to hang our memories on. Sometimes, it gives us mornings of creative flow, quiet afternoons with family, and a feeling of contentment that settles deep in the soul.
