"I am grateful for the balance I bring into my life. Every action I take today is a step toward growth, success, and well-being."
Hello all.
The first day back at work after a break can feel like a fresh start, full of new energy and opportunities to get things done. This morning, I was determined to approach the day with discipline and gratitude, sticking to my routine to ensure a smooth and productive day.
Starting the Day with Intention
I woke up feeling refreshed, and the first task of the day was to perform my Wim Hof breathing exercises. These deep breaths set the tone for the rest of the day, bringing a sense of calm focus and preparing me for the busy tasks ahead.
Afterward, I got to work tidying up the house. It’s always a priority for me to start the day with a clean and organized environment—it helps clear my mind and set a positive tone for the rest of my day. The simple act of putting things in order has a way of creating mental space for everything else that’s coming.
Then, I prepared my lunch for work. Meal prepping helps me stay on track, ensuring I have something healthy and energizing to fuel me through the day.
With everything set, I quickly got myself together, got in the car, and made my way to work. I managed to get there right on time—something I always take pride in.
A Productive Morning at Work
Once I arrived at work, I was ready to hit the ground running. My first task was to go around each classroom, checking that the projectors and laptops were up and running. It’s such an important part of the school’s tech systems, and I take pride in making sure everything is working smoothly so teachers and students can start their day without disruption.
I spent a little time responding to a few emails and ensuring that all the laptops were charged and ready to go. It felt like the morning was shaping up to be a great success, and I was in a positive headspace knowing everything was under control.
But before I could settle in completely, I had to take a quick break from work for a more personal task—taking my mom to a hospital appointment.
Taking Care of Family
A couple of weeks ago, my mom had knee surgery, and today it was time to have her dressings changed and the staples removed. I drove across town to collect her and took her to the hospital.
She was seen quickly, and everything went smoothly. Seeing her in good spirits and knowing that her recovery is progressing well was such a relief.
Afterward, we stopped for a cup of tea and had a quick chat in the cafĂ©—the first time she’d left the house since her surgery. It was a small but meaningful moment, one that gave us both some time to relax and reconnect.
I dropped her back off at home, feeling grateful for the opportunity to be there for her during her recovery. With her in a good state of mind and well on the path to recovery, I returned to work with a renewed sense of balance and purpose.
Back to Work and Supporting the Team
Once back at work, it was all about getting into the flow. I dove into the systems, creating documents to send to various people and answering calls to support the teachers. My role is to ensure that the school systems run smoothly so that teachers and staff can focus on their primary tasks without technical distractions.
It felt fulfilling to contribute to the smooth running of the school—knowing that my work behind the scenes supports the educators and students who rely on these systems every day.
Evening Routine: Exercise and Family Time
By 5:00 PM, it was time to head home. After a busy day of work, I decided to take my dog for a walk, as I do every day. It’s a chance for us both to get some exercise and fresh air. I used the time to train her, particularly as we passed other dogs in the park.
Afterward, I spent some time focusing on my personal projects. I published my latest blog post and posted a new message on the UK residents group to encourage more participation.
I then attended my monthly referees meeting. It’s always good to catch up with fellow referees and discuss how the season is progressing.
When I got home, I was back in work mode for a little while. I made sure to publish the latest content on the Home Harmony Project, respond to any emails that had come in, and keep on top of everything.
Ending the Day with Self-Care and Reflection
The evening wasn’t quite over yet. I took some time for self-care, indulging in a late-night bath and shave to unwind before bed. There’s something so refreshing about making sure that you take a little time for yourself, especially after a busy and productive day.
Before finally heading to bed, I took one last sweep around the house, making sure everything was tidy and that all surfaces were clean. This is part of my nightly ritual to ensure that the house is in a peaceful state, ready for a new day.
I then tucked Fearne into bed, and after a bit of time to reflect, I climbed into my own bed, knowing that I had had a day full of productivity, care for others, and personal growth.
A Day of Gratitude and Reflection
Today was a beautiful example of balance—the balance between work and personal commitments, creativity and routine, and self-care and family care. As always, I am grateful for the ability to stick to my routine, even with the unpredictable nature of life.
