"I balance productivity with rest, knowing that both are essential for success and well-being."
Hello all.
My good morning routine continues to set the tone for the day—starting with deep breathing exercises and my cycle to work. These small habits energize me and help me step into the day with a clear and focused mindset.
Work started with an unexpected but welcome treat—an early morning meeting meant breakfast food! I enjoyed a bacon butty, a small but delicious way to start the day.
From there, I dove into my first task: putting together the social media schedule for the Teaching School Hub. I made sure that all the different services we offer (ITT, ECF, AB, NPQ, and CPD) had their chance to be publicized regularly. It’s always satisfying to set up a system that keeps things running smoothly!
Later in the day, I had some visitors—CCTV specialists—coming in to assess how we can improve security around the school. It was refreshing to talk technical with like-minded people, something I don’t get to do often in a Primary school setting. The visit went well, and I look forward to receiving their quote for the improvements.
Next, I returned to troubleshooting the ongoing data and time issue in the school computer system trays. It turns out that the lack of icons was actually a symptom of deeper misconfigurations on our school server. The Trust IT team asked me to turn on every single computer so they could investigate and apply fixes. While I normally hate leaving things on unnecessarily (proud eco-warrior here! 🌍), I understood that this was necessary for the long-term health of our network.
To finish off the workday, I tackled a key February task: setting up the ‘February Fix’ data folder. This is where teachers record their students' progress data, and my job was to create spreadsheets with automated calculations to help analyse how well the school is performing. It’s a big task, but an important one! I made good progress and will finish it tomorrow.
After a busy day, I finally got some downtime at home. I posted my next articles for the Home Harmony Project, then enjoyed a relaxing evening to decompress and recharge. It’s nice to have those quiet moments to myself.
Over at the Home Harmony Project - I wrote an interesting article about finding your work cut-off point and sticking to it. You can have a read of it here.
