Thursday 20th February 2025 - A Day of Celebrations, Support, and Solutions 🎉💻

“I embrace challenges with confidence, knowing I am capable of making a difference.”

Hello all.

Today was another day of birthday celebrations, as we celebrated my dad's birthday along with a few of my work colleagues! 🎂🎉 Happy birthday to them all!

The day started with a challenging but rewarding phone call—an early career teacher reached out for support, struggling with the demands of the profession. I listened carefully, offered guidance, and then directed them to the appropriate body for further professional advice. Between us all, we provided the reassurance and confidence boost they needed to keep moving forward. Fingers crossed, they stay and grow into the incredible teacher they are meant to be! 🍎✨

Outside of my teaching school hub duties, I had:
💻 Laptops to set up for classrooms
🎓 Durham University students in for their latest teacher training session
👨‍🏫 A programming lesson to teach in Year 6
🖥️ Year 1 learning how to use computers

Since I obviously can’t be in two places at once, I pre-set the Year 1 laptops so that all they had to do was open the lids, and their lesson was ready to go. This gave me a precious 15 minutes to plan for the Year 6 lesson—a true example of thinking on your feet in a busy school day!

After school, I had my weekly IT meeting with other trust IT technicians, where I reported that the door system issue was fixed and updated them on the new database I’m developing for the teaching school hub. That sparked some awkward questions about my role—since I bring in my self-employed skills as a digital creator and software developer into my salaried school job. But ultimately, that’s not my issue to worry about—that’s for the Trust, the school, and the hub to figure out! 😅

The working day didn’t end there—I also had to set up for a Governors' meeting at 4:30 PM, ensuring:
💻 A laptop and Teams setup for remote access
📄 Documents ready for both in-person and virtual attendees

Since today was the last day before half-term, I did a full school tour, shutting down all unnecessary computer equipment to save power for the break.

I finally got home at 7:00 PM, after a long but fulfilling day—just the way I like it! 💪 Once home, I spent some time publishing social media content for my various projects before settling in for a relaxing evening with family.
