Monday 3rd February 2025 - A Day of Problem-Solving and Progress

"Every challenge I face is an opportunity to grow, adapt, and succeed."

Hello all.

Some days are just packed with challenges and opportunities, and today was one of them! I had lots to get on with, so I dove right in.

At work, I had laptop bookings to organise for various classrooms and school registration details to update. The biggest technical issue of the day turned out to be a major one—no one in the school could see the time, volume control, or WiFi icon on their computer taskbars. This meant that teachers couldn’t switch between input devices or use their projectors effectively. Since I didn’t have the right admin access to fix it, the IT Technicians from across the School Trust were brought in to tackle the issue. While they worked on it, I had another responsibility—teaching in the Year 2 classroom.

The regular teacher was away, taking students to a basketball competition, so I stepped in to teach the kids how to use the school computers. I got each child to log in independently and assigned them the task of creating a digital birthday card using Microsoft PowerPoint. Once everyone was logged in, the lesson turned out to be really enjoyable, and the creativity they showed was fantastic. At the end of the session, we worked together to make a class birthday card, finishing it just as the teacher returned—perfect timing!

The evening was all about refereeing and professional development. I had a scheduled phone call with the Chairman of the National Referees’ Association, where we discussed my proposals for modernising Durham County RA. I was thrilled that he was very impressed with my ideas and wanted to be kept in the loop. He even had a few suggestions to make our plans more inclusive and accessible. I left the call feeling confident and supported, knowing that next week’s members’ meeting will be crucial, as we will be voting on the modernisation plan. Fingers crossed it gets voted through!

Right after the call, I attended my local RA meeting in Hartlepool. I had a slot on the agenda to encourage members to attend next week’s meeting and cast their vote. The more members who show up, the better! The meeting ran until 10 PM, and by the time I got home, Juli and Fearne were heading to bed.

Despite the late hour, I still had content to catch up on. I published the next piece for the Home Harmony Project, created the TownHost LinkedIn page, and drafted several blog posts. Just a couple more platforms left to set up—step by step, it’s all coming together!

✔ Grateful for the opportunity to teach and inspire young minds
✔ Grateful for the support and encouragement from the National RA Chairman
✔ Grateful for the progress I’m making with my projects

Over at the Home Harmony Project - I have wrote another article to introduce to people about "Why Having a Work Cut-Off Point is Essential for Your Well-Being". You can read it in all of its magnificent glory via https://www.homeharmonyproject.com/daily-boosts/work-life-balance/
