"Every challenge I take on is an opportunity to grow, learn, and make a difference."
Hello all.
Today was another successful day, filled with problem-solving, learning, and exciting progress!
I kicked off my morning at work by replacing a MacBook screen. The process required patience and precision, carefully removing the damaged screen without harming any cables before fitting the new one in its place. It took about an hour, but I’m delighted to say the repair was a success! It’s always satisfying to see a device working perfectly again.
Next, I had the fantastic opportunity to step into our Year 6 classroom and introduce the students to programming with BBC Micro:Bits. Within an hour, they were all able to program their devices to display messages based on button presses. Their excitement was contagious, and they unanimously agreed it was the most fun lesson they’d had all year! It’s moments like these that remind me why I love working in tech—seeing others light up when they create something themselves is a great feeling.
After that, I needed to contact the Trust to disable a lost door access fob and issue a new one. But rather than just handling it for me, the Trust team actually gave me access to the Door Control System and showed me how to manage it myself! Now that I have control, I took the initiative to optimize the whole system—associating each fob with a specific staff member to make future management much smoother. Over the next few weeks, I’ll continue refining the process to make it as efficient as possible.
With some additional admin tasks wrapped up, I headed home feeling incredibly fulfilled. In the evening, I dropped Fearne off at a party, then spent some time setting up the TownHost content schedule and registering the website with Google Search Console. It’s exciting to see everything coming together!
I ended my night with some well-deserved relaxation—watching Man Utd in the FA Cup, starting Celebrity Bear Hunt on Netflix, and heading to bed knowing I had achieved a lot today. A day full of wins, progress, and happiness!
