"I embrace each opportunity to support others, create with passion, and reflect with purpose."
Hello all.
Today was a day of small but meaningful achievements, a mix of helping others, being creative, and taking time for reflection.
Before heading to work, I packed a parcel for an item I had sold via eBay Boosters. It’s always nice to see something you no longer need go to someone who will appreciate it. Since the weather was miserable—rain coming down steadily all day—I decided to drive instead of cycle.
At work, I started the morning by assisting in Year 3 with their online tests. Their teacher had no support staff available, and it felt like the right thing to do to stay and help. With teamwork, we managed to get all three scheduled tests done before lunchtime, which freed up my afternoon for other tasks.
One of my key projects today was designing a Mental Health First Aid poster for the school. A few members of staff had recently completed training in mental health support, and my task was to create a professional and polished poster to promote the new initiative. Of course, anything less than a high standard would have frustrated me!
Next on the list was drafting an Appropriate Body document—a Quality Assurance Terms of Reference. While not the most thrilling of tasks, it was necessary. I drafted the content, used Copilot to refine it, and then applied the standard branding and formatting we use for all official documentation.
Before the school day ended, I had the opportunity to step into Year 5 for a lesson on digital design. We explored scaling objects, multiple sections, grouping, and various ways to manipulate design software. It was great to see the students getting hands-on with creative tools!
Since there was a staff meeting later in the evening, I stayed at work to complete some admin tasks before setting up a safeguarding training video for the meeting. We also took time to reflect on this week's Gospel reading and discussed how we could contribute to our school's theme for the year—Choosing the Jesus Way. It was a meaningful discussion, and I always appreciate moments like these that encourage self-reflection.
Once home, I unwound by watching The Repair Shop on BBC iPlayer before settling in with everyone to watch the final episode of Black Doves on Netflix. While it was a bit dialogue-heavy, it set things up nicely for a second season, which I’ll be looking forward to.
Before bed, I put Fearne to sleep, then caught up on my blog, worked on the next batch of Home Harmony Project content, and took some time for self-care with a relaxing bath and shave. It was the perfect way to end a busy but fulfilling day.
And over at the Home Harmony Project - I detailed some simple things you can do to create natural breaks during the day to keep your energy levels up.
