"Even during quiet moments, progress is happening. Celebrate every win and remember that motivation will return with purpose."
Hello all.
Today was a mix of professional achievements, personal connections, and meaningful celebrations. While work started slowly, the highlights of the day reminded me of the joy that comes from celebrating loved ones and making progress in areas that matter.
The day began at 8:30 AM with a brief stint at work before I headed to a referee officers meeting for the Durham County Referees Association at 10:00 AM. The meeting, held at the Trimdon Residents Association, was a fantastic success. It was the first time we’d discussed the modernisation report I wrote in November, and I’m thrilled that all the points I raised were accepted. I was tasked with organizing a meeting in February to present the report to all members and gather their feedback. This step feels like real progress, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the redevelopment of the association.
After returning to work around lunchtime, I found the rest of the day to be fairly uneventful. There wasn’t much to do, and the lack of tasks left me feeling unmotivated. However, I took the opportunity to catch up with colleagues about their Christmas holidays, which brought some light to an otherwise slow afternoon.
The evening was where the day truly shined. It was Henry’s 16th birthday and also my sister Melissa’s 39th birthday. I had sent Melissa a stop-motion animation kit as a gift so she could animate her Lego creations, and she was delighted to receive it on her special day. To celebrate Henry’s milestone, we went out for a meal, which was wonderful—but I’ll admit, I ate far too much and spent the rest of the evening on the couch. To top it off, Juli, Fearne and I watched the final episode of Squid Game Season 2, a perfect way to end the day.
Despite the slow workday, the celebrations reminded me that joy and progress come in many forms. I may need to reignite my professional motivation, but today’s personal moments were invaluable.
