“I find joy in solving problems and creating balance in my life, one step at a time.”
Hello all.
Today began with a slightly calmer start, and I’m grateful for the opportunities to solve problems and make steady progress.
The morning started with our Music Teacher facing an issue with her printer. After a few frantic minutes troubleshooting, we managed to reset her password and get her back up and printing from her usual laptop. Next, the Nursery’s projector bulb needed replacing – luckily, I had spares on hand to get it sorted quickly. Moments like these remind me how much impact small, timely fixes can have on someone’s day.
I then shifted gears to administrative tasks, creating an email mail merge to contact Induction Tutors about ECT contracts. It’s always satisfying to keep things organized and up to date.
Most of my day was dedicated to further development on the bespoke Teaching School Hub database. Progress is steady and exciting – I’ve now completed a registration system and set up pages to manage users, schools, and hubs. Building this database from scratch feels like the right decision, as it allows us to fully tailor it to our needs.
While working on the database, I also recorded a DfE meeting focused on the new systems for Appropriate Body induction records. Everyone else was tied up with mental health first aid training, so this recording will allow my colleagues to catch up when they’re ready.
After lunch, I paused my database work to support the Year 1 class with their first laptop lesson. Logging each child into their laptop gave the teacher more time for their computing lesson, and it was lovely to see the students excited to learn.
Before the day ended, I helped our Headteacher set up a hybrid Teachers Union meeting with both in-person and online attendees. Once everything was running smoothly, it was finally time to head home.
Though I forgot to drop off an eBay parcel, I’ll take care of it tomorrow. At home, I dedicated a couple of hours to my Freemasons practice, committing more of the Charge of Initiation to memory. With my blog posts and Home Harmony Project updates scheduled to go live automatically, I had the rare luxury of a truly relaxing evening. I spent the final hours of the day with my family, watching the next episode of Black Doves on Netflix.
It was a balanced and productive day, and I’m grateful for the calm moments amid the busyness.
