Saturday 11th January 2025 - Grateful Reflections: Balancing Frustrations and Joys

"Even on challenging days, I find joy and fulfillment by focusing on what truly matters and celebrating small victories."

Hello all.

Yesterday started with some frustration as I noticed others in the house hadn’t contributed to household chores. The bin wasn’t emptied, the dishwasher wasn’t loaded, and clothes weren’t put away. It felt overwhelming to have it all left to me, but after a few rounds of Wim Hof breathing, I calmed down and tackled the tasks myself. Gratitude kicked in as I realized how productive the day ahead could still be.

Once the house was in order, I focused on preparing for an upcoming Freemasons charity meeting. With our AGM approaching, I worked hard to finalize and send out agendas and necessary documents to representatives. Despite the pressure, completing this felt incredibly satisfying and lifted a weight off my shoulders.

The afternoon brought a change of pace as I stepped into my first refereeing role of 2025. I officiated as the Assistant Referee for a Wearside Premier Division match between Seaton Carew and Shotton Colliery. The game was well-played, with plenty of action and a smooth flow. My signals for goal kicks, corners, and offsides were clear and effective, contributing positively to the match. It was a fantastic start to this year’s refereeing season.

Before the game, I dropped Fearne and Henry off at Juli’s pantomime performance in Greatham. After the match, I joined them to watch 1001 Arabian Nights, where Juli shone as the genie of the lamp. The show was cheesy and low-budget but full of charm, hilarity, and enthusiasm. Watching Juli perform with such confidence and passion was the highlight of my day, and I had so much fun sharing the experience with Fearne.

Back home, Fearne was exhausted after a day of sweets and snacks, so I made her a quick pizza before she fell asleep almost immediately. Juli returned later from the pantomime’s after-party, and we both ended the day feeling tired but content. Although I didn’t have time to practice my Charge of Initiation, I’m grateful for everything I accomplished and experienced.
