"Through knowledge and understanding, we empower ourselves and others to make choices that lead to a brighter, more rewarding future."
Hello all.
Friday turned out to be a different kind of day—not one spent checking off my to-do list but one that brought significant clarity and purpose. Today, I want to share the journey of AMAS, my analytical system for understanding the world of Greyhound racing and gambling.
AMAS was designed to test long-held theories about logical systems in gambling. Over the past week, it has been running simulations with 30 years of historical Greyhound racing data and live betting scenarios. I programmed it to explore a variety of betting strategies, such as:
- Betting on the most successful trap at each track.
- Betting on the favourite, the second favourite, or the outsider.
- Applying different betting systems like the Martingale, Reverse Martingale, and Oscar’s Grind.
Each scenario started with a virtual currency bank of £100, and one included £100 of real money to test it in real-world conditions.
The Results and Revelation
Today, I found that every strategy had reached its limit—the virtual banks had depleted. While there were moments of profit (enough to treat my family to a day out), the data clearly showed the randomness of the world, often referred to as "variance" in betting circles. Ultimately, the systems failed to overcome the odds stacked by gambling companies, reinforcing the truth: the house always wins.
By analysing the data, I gained profound insights not only into the flaws of betting systems but also into the addictive nature of gambling. With this knowledge, I shared the results with friends and family members who have been impacted by gambling. Seeing the hard evidence was a crucial first step toward breaking harmful habits.
A New Mission for AMAS
This is not the end for AMAS—it’s a new beginning. I’m transforming it into a tool for education and empowerment, a way to help people understand the risks and pitfalls of gambling. AMAS will now serve as a beacon of truth, helping others avoid the traps that I’ve uncovered through this project.
Looking Ahead
This journey has been a powerful reminder of the importance of self-discipline, knowledge, and using technology for good. As I continue to develop AMAS, I feel a renewed sense of purpose and hope. If my experience and findings can help even one person avoid the negative consequences of gambling, then every effort will have been worth it. Together, we can create a brighter future where informed choices lead to lasting rewards.
