Tuesday 24th December 2024 - Christmas Eve: Organization and Family Time

The love and care I put into today will bring joy and connection tomorrow.

Hello all.

Christmas Eve was exactly what it needed to be—a day of getting organized and an evening filled with family warmth and togetherness.

While Juli and Fearne went with a friend to an art exhibition in Barnard Castle, an hour’s drive away, I stayed at home to finalize preparations for the big day tomorrow. It was productive and satisfying to tick off those last few tasks on my list.

I spent part of the morning scheduling my Christmas Day social media messages. It felt great to plan ahead and ensure everyone in our home has their moment to share their gifts tomorrow, without anyone feeling left out. Equality and fairness mean so much to me, especially on a day that celebrates love and togetherness.

The rest of the day was dedicated to my passion project: the TownHost website. I focused on writing and pricing the add-ons for services. It’s been a huge task—over 250 pages of content written and 200 images designed so far. Although it feels like a long slog, I know this effort is building something meaningful for my future. I’m not rushing it because getting it right is more important than rushing to meet an arbitrary deadline.

Juli and Fearne returned home in the late afternoon. Juli disappeared into the bedroom to wrap the last few presents, while Fearne and I hung out. We watched Christmas TV, laughed at random YouTube videos, ate sweets, and bounced around in high spirits—it was simple, chaotic, and perfect.

In the evening, we all gathered to watch The Repair Shop Christmas Special and the Sewing Bee Christmas Special on BBC iPlayer. Fearne was so excited she couldn’t settle down to sleep. I eventually lit a relaxing candle in her room and encouraged her to stare at its gentle flicker while lying in bed. It worked, and she finally dozed off, giving us time to prepare the living room for tomorrow.

Christmas Day is going to be magical. This month has been so special, and I can’t wait to see it all come together tomorrow.
