I celebrate every milestone, cherish my connections, and embrace the joy and gratitude this season brings.
Hello all.
This morning marked my final referee appointment of 2024, and what a way to close out the year! I officiated a 2nd Round Sunday Cup match at Washington Football Hub between Greensides and Sunderland Carpets (yes, quite unique team names!). It was a blustery day, making it tough for the ball to travel through the air. Both teams adjusted admirably by keeping the ball on the ground, and Sunderland Carpets emerged victorious with a commanding 7-0 win. Despite the wind, it was wonderful to be outdoors, soaking up the fresh air and embracing the simple joys of the game.
On my way home, I stopped by to check in with my mum. She’s doing well, though she’s frustrated about a technical issue that cancelled her Sky Sports subscription just as she was gearing up to watch the Christmas Darts. Her resilience shone through as she found joy in watching highlights on YouTube instead.
Once home, I indulged in a relaxing bath, complete with a lit candle to set the mood. The holidays have officially begun! With all refereeing commitments fulfilled and work wrapped up, I’m ready to spend the next two weeks soaking in the joy of family, relaxation, and gratitude.
With Juli and Fearne out at more Christmas events, I used the quiet time to work on the TownHost website. I successfully added all the main services and just need to include the add-ons. This progress feels like another step toward my ambitious goal of building a platform to help as many people as possible.
The evening brought a special celebration—Fearne’s Dancing Awards in Seaton Carew. Juli, Fearne, and I attended, and we were overjoyed when Fearne won Young Tap Dancer of the Year! Watching her celebrate with her friends and the entire dance group was a moment of pure pride and happiness.
We arrived home at 10:30 PM, with Fearne and Juli heading straight to bed. I ended my day with a quiet moment for myself, watching Match of the Day 2 on BBC iPlayer before heading to bed with a heart full of gratitude.
Reflecting on today, I feel incredibly blessed for the opportunities, connections, and milestones that have shaped this year. Here’s to celebrating the small and big wins, staying resilient, and welcoming the festive season with open arms.
