Sunday 1st December 2024 - A Day of Simple Joys and Moving Forward

“I embrace the small joys, tackle challenges with determination, and allow each moment to move me closer to healing and harmony.”

Hello all,

After staying up late to enjoy the incredible snooker match last night, I made a deliberate decision to give myself the gift of eight hours of sleep. It felt like a symbolic gesture—a restart of sorts—and waking up at 9:30 AM was the perfect way to honor that. The day began with Fearne eagerly encouraging me to open my Advent Calendar, officially ushering in the Christmas season. I’m grateful for these little traditions that bring light and joy to December: Christmas jumpers, Ribena Winter Spice (a true seasonal delight), and the simple pleasures of celebration.

With Juli and Fearne out at a cinema showing of Wicked organized by their dance group, I had the morning to myself. I seized the opportunity to tackle some practical tasks, starting with posting an item I’d sold on eBay Booster. Then, I ventured into town with my shopping list of aloe vera-based products, taking steps toward managing my eczema. As my backpack filled with shaving foam, gel, and other essentials, I felt a sense of accomplishment. The crisp air and gentle walk lifted my spirits, reminding me of the power of small actions in creating a positive day.

Returning home, I began updating my blog, deciding to include affirmations and images to infuse positivity into my reflections. Just as I settled in to work on the TownHost website, my phone rang with an unexpected opportunity—a referee was injured, and a women’s game in Darlington needed covering. Grateful for the chance to recoup yesterday’s aloe vera expenses and to stay active, I was ready in no time and off to officiate. The game was enjoyable, with Durham claiming a decisive 5-0 victory. I’m thankful for these chances to engage in something I love and contribute to the sport.

Back home, I continued my recovery routine, finally removing the dressings from my hand and finger after 48 hours. Though healing is ongoing, I’m thankful the wounds are manageable, even if they might leave a scar. I’m optimistic about regaining full mobility in time and remain focused on giving my body the care it needs.

As I write this, the evening is still unfolding. Fearne and Juli are building a Lego Monster Truck, courtesy of Melissa’s thoughtful birthday addition, while I’m preparing new content for the Home Harmony Project and updating TownHost pages. With the UK Championship Snooker final playing softly in the background, I’m reminded of the balance between work, relaxation, and connection.
