Saturday 30th November 2024 - Finding Small Wins in a Challenging Day

Even in the hardest moments, I am capable of finding clarity, creating change, and moving forward with hope

Hello all,

Today wasn’t an easy day, but it offered pockets of time for reflection and the chance to find joy in the little things. While the atmosphere at home remains tense, I hold on to the belief that we’re all doing what we feel is best, even if it’s uncomfortable. Deep down, I know we’ll move past this, and I’m grateful for the clarity to keep taking positive steps forward.

When Juli, Fearne, and Henry headed out to watch a local rugby match, I used the quiet moment to center myself. Positive affirmations gave me some much-needed perspective, and I began brainstorming ways to refocus my energy on creating meaningful change. One exciting idea that emerged was to channel my experiences into business ventures aimed at inspiring others to grow and be their best selves. This thought alone lifted my spirits and reminded me of the potential within even the hardest days.

Later, I refereed a match in Seaham, picking up Georgia, a young and enthusiastic Assistant Referee, along the way. Her eagerness reminded me of the importance of mentorship and how fulfilling it is to help others grow in their journeys. The game itself was straightforward, ending in a 7-0 victory, but the true win of the day was seeing someone new to the field so eager to learn.

After the match, I stopped by my mum’s house and received my birthday gift from Melissa—new jeans! For the past year, I’ve only had one pair, so having a second is an absolute treat. Thank you, Melissa, for such a thoughtful and practical gift!

On the way home, I picked up an adult advent calendar for Juli, hoping it might bring a small spark of joy back into our shared routine. While she didn’t say much when I gave it to her, I’m thankful for the opportunity to extend a gesture of kindness. Every small step matters in creating bridges of connection.

The evening ended quietly, with Juli tidying Fearne’s room and me indulging in an epic snooker match on BBC2 that stretched into the early hours. While watching, I found myself reflecting deeply and decided to tackle an issue I’ve been meaning to address—my eczema. I crafted a plan to manage it more effectively, listing everything I needed and where I could source it. Having a clear plan to address a long-standing challenge feels empowering and hopeful.
