Monday 2nd December 2024 - Gratitude in the Little Things

I welcome each day with an open heart, finding joy in progress, gratitude in connection, and peace in the little things

Hello all,

The atmosphere at home is slowly improving, and for that, I’m grateful. It’s difficult to stay upset with anyone during this time of year—it’s Christmas, after all. The season has a way of softening hearts and creating moments of connection, even in challenging times.

Today at work, I managed to catch up on a few weekend emails before dedicating most of my time to developing the Teaching School Hub. The database scheme and relationships are finally settled, and I’m now in the process of transforming these plans into a functional system. Though it’s a complex task, I’m genuinely enjoying the challenge. Progress, however small, is something to be thankful for.

Aside from that, I had just a few small tasks to handle around the school—helping a teacher create a PowerPoint presentation, delivering laptops to Year 4, and downloading gymnastics videos for evidence. These lighter tasks freed me to focus more deeply on my development work, which made the day feel incredibly productive.

After work, I was greeted by a delightful surprise: Juli had organized a lovely dinner. She used some vouchers she’d won to treat us to a Chinese takeaway, and it was absolutely delicious. Sharing a meal like this was a reminder of the small joys that bring us together.

Following dinner, I indulged in my seasonal favourite—Ribena Winter Spice—and retreated to my office. I made good progress on the next set of content for the Home Harmony Project, which felt fulfilling. Later, I attended the Hartlepool Referee’s Association’s December meeting, where festive activities were in full swing. I even won a bottle of Chardonnay in the raffle! Since I don’t drink, I gifted it to Juli, hoping it would bring her some enjoyment.

Before bed, I stayed up a little late to work on the next page for my TownHost website. It felt good to end the day on a productive note, rounding out what had been a truly great day. I’m grateful for the balance of work, connection, and creativity that defined today.
