Hello all,
This morning, I woke up feeling the weight of a long to-do list. As usual, there were clothes to put away and some laundry to hang out to dry before heading off to work. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was part of my routine, and I knew it would feel good to have it sorted before the busyness of the day began.
Once at work, I dived into creating a quality assurance visit spreadsheet for staff. This would help organize where various members of the team would go to complete quality assurance visits across all the schools we oversee. It was a task that required careful attention to detail, but once I had it all set up, I felt a sense of accomplishment.
In the midst of my workday, I also had to help organize flu vaccines for the kids at school. I had to ensure everything ran smoothly, guiding the children to the right places in an orderly fashion. It wasn’t the most exciting task, but it was important to ensure that the kids got their vaccines in a timely manner. I also took on the task of repairing a broken iPad screen that had been damaged by a staff member. I carefully removed the old screen, preparing for the new one to be fitted tomorrow.
But when I returned home, my mood took a hit. The house was messy, and I felt overwhelmed by the amount of extra work still left to do. I spent time cleaning the dishwasher and kitchen—again—and wiping stains and marks off the corridor walls, which no one else seemed to notice but were starting to frustrate me. It’s hard not to feel disheartened when it feels like the work is never-ending, and it can be easy to lose motivation in these moments.
I got a bit upset, but I took a deep breath and reminded myself of my purpose. I want to inspire people to lead clean and healthy lives, and that means I need to stay focused, even when the work feels endless. Sometimes, we need to talk ourselves through the tough moments to keep our motivation levels up. I reminded myself that it’s okay to feel frustrated, but it’s important to keep going and stay committed to the bigger picture.
It wasn’t the perfect day, but I’m proud of what I accomplished, even in the face of challenges. Tomorrow is a new day, and with a bit of self-compassion, I know I’ll keep moving forward.
