Thursday 7th November 2024 - A Day of Multitasking and Milestones

 Hello all,

Today was another whirlwind at work, with the Durham University students returning to teach in the pop-up classrooms. It was a bustling day as I juggled printing resources, setting up PowerPoints, and supporting lessons across the school to ensure everything ran as smoothly as possible.

In the midst of this, I had several online meetings to manage—some for the Teaching School Hub and others for our headteacher. Coordinating everything felt a bit like spinning plates, but it was satisfying to see things come together.

I carved out half an hour of peace to tackle my annual cybersecurity training. It’s a necessary part of working in a school, and getting it done felt like a small win amidst the chaos.

Creating resources for our Key Stage One classes was another highlight of the day. I printed out clock faces to help the children learn to tell the time and pencil control exercises to improve their handwriting. It’s always fulfilling to contribute to tools that directly enhance the kids’ learning experiences.

A significant chunk of my day was spent on an Appropriate Body finance spreadsheet, which involved inputting 700 names. This task will ultimately help calculate costs associated with the Hub’s work as their Appropriate Body. Though tedious, it felt great to make progress on something so important.

As the day wound down, I prepared the assembly hall for tomorrow morning’s Remembrance Assembly. It’s always a poignant occasion, and I wanted everything to be perfect for the event.

By the time I got home, I was exhausted. After relaxing with more episodes of Ludwig, I found the energy to complete a major milestone for the Home Harmony Project. The monthly cleaning guides are now finished! I stayed up late to get them done, but I couldn’t be more thrilled to have this section wrapped up. Knowing these articles are ready to help others organize their homes makes the effort worthwhile.

It’s been a long, busy day, but one filled with moments of accomplishment. Days like this remind me that even in the busyness, we can find satisfaction in the small and large victories alike.
