Sunday 3rd November 2024 - Balancing Productivity, Refereeing, and Family

Hello all,

I started my morning by cleaning up the kitchen, a small but satisfying way to begin the day. With the space tidied, I settled in to write more articles for the Home Harmony Project. These Deep Cleaning Guides are becoming quite the undertaking; the level of detail they require means they’ll take some time to complete, but I know they’ll be worth it in the end.

The afternoon brought an exciting change of pace as I officiated a Women’s FA Cup First Round match—Thornaby versus Liverpool Feds. The game ended with a resounding 7-2 victory for Liverpool, and it was surprisingly straightforward to referee. However, one of my assistants, David, seemed more interested in the limelight than the game itself. His constant need for attention was distracting and, in my opinion, took away from the spirit of the match. For me, refereeing is about fairness, ensuring everyone feels cared for, and simply doing the job—not seeking attention.

After the game, I made time to visit my mom and check on her. She’d recently had new tiles put on her roof to fix a potential damp issue. Although the scaffolding was still up, she seemed happy and reassured that the repairs were progressing well.

Back at home, I wound down with a hot shower and some meditation—a chance to clear my mind after the day’s events. Feeling refreshed, I returned to working on articles for the Home Harmony Project. The website is really taking shape, and I’m excited to see it evolve further.

Before ending the day, I was reminded of an important task: preparing the charity agenda for the Hartlepool Freemasons. I quickly wrote and sent it out, ensuring everything was in place for our meeting on Tuesday.

It’s days like these—full of productivity, moments with loved ones, and professional commitments—that remind me of the importance of balance.
