Hello all,
Today was my birthday, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! I woke up bright and early at 7 AM to the joy of opening thoughtful cards and gifts from Juli and Fearne. Among the surprises were a New Zealand Rugby top, a Deadpool Christmas jumper (courtesy of Juli’s mum), and a sweet treat—a packet of Jelly Babies. The handcrafted cards were the cherry on top, each filled with so much love and care.
After getting the house ready for the day, I cycled to work, where even more surprises awaited me. The wonderful team in the Teaching School Hub spoiled me with heartfelt gifts: a handmade Pokémon winter hat (a dut), a notebook with the perfect phrase “Eat, Sleep, Ice Bath, Repeat”, and a book inspired by Sort Your Life Out, one of my favorite shows. Their thoughtfulness truly touched me and gave me a fantastic start to the day.
Fueled by gratitude and excitement, I got to work. I updated the training records and attendance data for the Appropriate Body, ensuring all newly registered Early Career Teachers had received their information and been briefed. This task took a little over an hour but felt rewarding to know everything was in order.
Next, I set up more IT equipment for the Hub. I configured a new laptop with all the software and cloud connections required, and also set up dual screens for two staff members. The extra screens will make their work much smoother, and seeing their delight at the seamless transition made my efforts worthwhile.
Before the day ended, I called Walkers Opticians to check on their new email system. Hearing that everything was running smoothly made my day, as it allowed me to confidently tell the old provider to deactivate their service. I wrapped up work by crafting a festive social media post for the school, detailing our Christmas opening times. Adding a touch of holiday cheer was a joy.
The evening was equally special. I attended a Freemasons Chapter meeting, dressed in my dinner suit, and enjoyed a wonderful evening with my Masonic brothers. During the customary meal, they surprised me by singing Happy Birthday. It was such a heartfelt moment, and I was overwhelmed with gratitude for their kindness.
I made it home just before 10 PM, capping off the day with a slice of birthday cake and a quiet moment to blow out my candle, making a wish. Today was filled with love, surprises, and cherished moments I will hold close to my heart.
