Friday 25th October 2024 - PD Day at Work

 Hello all,

Today was a unique one, as it was a personal development day across our entire school trust. I started by heading to my usual school in Hartlepool, where I picked up the repaired iPads I had worked on a few weeks earlier. Then, I travelled to a primary school in Thornaby to drop them off. While there, I joined a trust-wide meeting with all the School Business Managers from our schools. It was a delightful gathering, connecting us as colleagues and reminding us of the shared goals we all support.

In the afternoon, I attended my annual IT meeting in person. Although the session covered basic technical details that didn’t quite match my usual pace or knowledge level, it was nice to meet everyone face-to-face for the first time and get a sense of the personalities behind the names. I noticed my energy and enthusiasm were a bit higher than the room’s overall vibe, but I’m grateful for the chance to connect and be part of the wider team.

Returning to my main school in Hartlepool, I wrapped things up by powering down all the equipment—projectors, laptops, and printers—as we head into our half-term break next week. Just as I was about to leave, our deputy headteacher handed me his new iPhone 16 to set up with the school’s email and two-factor authentication, which I managed quickly for him.

In the evening, with Fearne and Juli out at a Halloween dance party, I had a few quiet hours to myself. I used the time to organize my little office, getting it prepped for the official start of my eBay Boosters service—a small but significant step forward in launching this venture! I finished the night watching A Man Called Otto on Netflix, a heart-warming and funny film starring Tom Hanks. I’m genuinely grateful for these little moments of productivity and enjoyment.
