Today has been one of those days where I’ve been reminded of the beauty in being productive, and I can’t help but feel grateful for the small victories and contributions I’ve made both at work and at home.
At work, I had the privilege of cross-checking and matching over 900 email addresses for teachers—an essential step in ensuring smooth communication with them. It felt rewarding to know that this task will help support their engagement with us, making it easier to stay connected throughout their early teaching careers.
A few phone calls later too, I was able to assist more teachers in registering for their two-year Early Career Teacher Induction programme. Knowing that I played a small part in supporting their journey into teaching made me feel incredibly grateful to be in this line of work.
I also had the pleasure of helping a teacher set up their new iPhone 16, configuring their work emails and multi-factor authentication. There’s something satisfying about solving these sorts of tech puzzles and making someone's day a little easier.
The day didn’t slow down once I got home, but I embraced it all. We decided to rearrange the living room furniture—Juli had a fantastic idea for a new chair layout, which has given the space a fresh, more relaxed vibe. I even managed to fit in some Tai Chi and yoga, which are becoming essential parts of my routine to improve fitness and flexibility. After that, I settled in for Quiz Night on BBC Two, enjoying the light-hearted challenge of trivia questions with a hot cup of warm water.
I also received an application for a donation to the Hartlepool Masons Benevolent Fund, which I proudly serve as Secretary. Being able to process these requests fills me with gratitude—knowing we’re making a difference in our community is humbling. To round out the day, I recorded the latest accounts for the Durham County Referees’ Association, another role that I’m honoured to be part of.
Looking back on it all, I realise how fortunate I am to be involved in such diverse and meaningful work. Whether it’s helping teachers, supporting charitable efforts, or just creating a more peaceful environment at home, each task brought its own sense of accomplishment. Today reminded me that gratitude lies in recognising the value of what we do, no matter how big or small.
Every day offers us a chance to contribute and grow, and for that, I’m truly grateful.
